Overview:
This chapter outlines the Host Country's responsibilities as pertains to local staff who are hired to support the ADB, Host Country and PCO (if one is appointed). These staff are expected to assist with tasks including the role of Liaison Officer (LO), information desk hosts, airport reception desk hosts, headset distribution and administrative support.
These staff are required in large numbers and expected to be available for the duration of the meeting and as such the roles may suit university students, volunteers or similar. Alternatively, a professional staffing agency may be engaged by the host country across these requirements.
Logistical planning, effective briefing and clear lines of communication between the Host Country Coordinator / Local Staff Coordinator and locally engaged staff will ensure a successful annual meeting.
Important Information:
- The host country appoints a Local Staff Coordinator to supervise the hiring and work of all locally engaged staff.
- All locally engaged staff must speak English to the level required to do their jobs.
- The host country registers its own locally engaged staff in a system that is separate from the ADB Annual Meeting system.
- The host country is responsible for ensuring adequate infrastructure, food options and support/management is provided for locally engaged staff.
- ADB coordinates closely with the Host Country Secretariat in selecting the locally engaged staff it requires to work with ADB personnel.
- All locally engaged staff will be covered by the ESMS Supplier / Sponsor Declaration of Compliance Appendix 138.
