16.5. Training of Drivers

1. All drivers of chauffeur-driven cars and shuttle buses are familiar with the routes to be used for the meeting: between the airport and the hotels, and between all the official meeting venues. All drivers are thoroughly briefed and trained by the host country or appointed transport company. A dry run of all the shuttle routes is conducted before the meeting, upon arrival of the ADB advance team.
2. For host countries where the English language is not widely used, it is desirable to provide each driver with a card or sheet containing English translations of commonly used phrases for directions or a conversation sheet. Appendix 89 contains a sample.

   To facilitate transport arrangements from hotels to the airport upon departure, schedules of shuttle departure are provided in the hotels as well as the venue/s. Delegates would just need to check at the hotel lobbies.
